Non-Bottle Post Consumer Plastic Container Recycling (MRP/SPC):
- The MRP recycling program is designed to support MRF's with markets for plastic historically land filled to improve diversion levels while maintaining material quality.
- With a developed infrastructure for collecting recyclables at the curb, maximizing volumes of revenue when generating materials is a high priority.
- Diverting non-bottle plastic containers from the land fill reduces operating costs while adding revenue to the bottom line.
- UCS has been purchasing this grade of material in several variations (industrial, C&D, municipal, etc.) for over three years. After helping municipalities and private MRF's run pilot programs and supporting them with guidance and markets for their end product it has been concluded that the program is profitable and sustainable. We have since invested into more capacity and are now ready to recieve a higher volume of material.
- Once a facility is baling their non-bottle plastics UCS evaluates the material based on the pictures and physical inspections to provide feedback on its quality.
- Upon approval transportation is arranged at no cost to the supplier and a price set by the market is paid.
- Once it has arrived at the end market, baled materials are sorted, washed, and ground before being reporcessed and blended with virgin materials into new products.
